# Convert HEIC to JPG

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG so they open on Windows, Android and every website. **Your photos stay on your device.**

**HEIC to JPG** is an interactive tool that runs in a web browser at https://spirikle.com/tools/heic-to-jpg/. It processes files on the visitor's own device; nothing is uploaded. There is nothing to call from Markdown — open the page to use it.

## How to convert HEIC to JPG

### 1. Add your HEIC photos

Drop the .heic or .heif files onto the box above, or choose them.

### 2. Check the settings

JPG is already selected. 90% quality looks like the original.

### 3. Convert and download

Press Convert to JPG and download your photos.

## What HEIC is, and why it will not open

iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container): smaller than JPG at the same quality, but Windows, many Android phones and most upload forms cannot open it.

JPG is the format everything accepts — upload forms, Windows, older Android phones. The file is usually a little larger than the HEIC.

Safari reads HEIC itself. In other browsers the photo is decoded by a decoder that loads into this page only when you add a HEIC file — still on your device, still not uploaded.

## Questions

### Why does my iPhone take HEIC photos?

It saves space. You can switch the camera to JPG in Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, but HEIC files keep more quality per megabyte.

### Is a HEIC with several images supported?

Yes — each image inside it is saved as its own file.

### Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser: your files are opened and processed on your own phone or computer, and nothing is sent to a server — not to ours, not to anyone else's. The page is even set up so the browser itself blocks it from sending data elsewhere. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

### Is it really free?

Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid version of this tool. Because the work happens on your own device rather than on our servers, it costs us nothing to run, so there is nothing to charge for.
