# Sign a PDF

Draw, type or upload your signature and place it anywhere on your PDF. **The document never leaves your device.**

**Sign PDF** is an interactive tool that runs in a web browser at https://spirikle.com/tools/sign-pdf/. It processes files on the visitor's own device; nothing is uploaded. There is nothing to call from Markdown — open the page to use it.

## How to sign a PDF

### 1. Add your PDF

Drop the PDF onto the box above, or choose it from your device.

### 2. Make your signature

Draw it with your finger or mouse, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature. Pick blue or black ink.

### 3. Place it

Press Place on this page, then drag the signature into position and pull its corner to resize it. Move between pages to sign more than one.

### 4. Save

Press Sign and save PDF and download the signed copy.

## What kind of signature this is

This puts a picture of your signature onto the page — the same as signing a printout and scanning it back in, without the printer. It is what most forms, leases and permission slips ask for.

It is not a certificate-based digital signature (the kind that uses an ID card or a paid signing service to prove who signed). If a document asks for one of those, this will not satisfy it.

Signing a contract should not mean uploading it. The signature and the PDF are combined in your browser, and neither is sent anywhere.

## Questions

### Is this legally binding?

In many places an image of a handwritten signature is accepted for everyday agreements, but the rules depend on your country and the document. If you are unsure, ask whoever sent it what they accept.

### Can I sign more than one page?

Yes. Go to another page and press Place on this page again. Each signature can be moved and resized on its own.

### Is my signature saved?

No. It exists only in this tab and is gone when you close it. Scan Clan on your phone can keep a signature for re-use.

### Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser: your files are opened and processed on your own phone or computer, and nothing is sent to a server — not to ours, not to anyone else's. The page is even set up so the browser itself blocks it from sending data elsewhere. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

### Is it really free?

Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid version of this tool. Because the work happens on your own device rather than on our servers, it costs us nothing to run, so there is nothing to charge for.
