It processes files on the visitor's own device; nothing is uploaded. There is nothing to call from Markdown — open the page to use it. ## How to split a PDF ### 1. Add your PDF Drop the PDF onto the box above, or choose it from your device. ### 2. Choose how to split it Type page ranges such as 1-3, 4-6, 7 — each range becomes its own file — or split it into single pages, or into files of a set number of pages. ### 3. Split and download Press Split PDF. If there are several files, download them one by one or all together as a ZIP. ## Ranges, single pages or equal chunks Custom ranges are the most flexible: "1-2, 5, 9-" makes three files — pages 1 and 2, page 5, and page 9 to the end. A range written backwards, like 6-4, keeps the pages in that reversed order. The pages are copied, not re-rendered, so the split files look exactly like the original and their text stays searchable. ## Questions ### How do I take just a few pages out of a PDF? Type those pages as one range — for example 3-5 — and you get a single PDF of just those pages. To drop pages instead, use [Delete PDF pages](/tools/delete-pdf-pages/). ### What do the split files get called? Each is named after the original plus its pages, like report-pages-1-3.pdf, so you can tell them apart. ### Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere? No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser: your files are opened and processed on your own phone or computer, and nothing is sent to a server — not to ours, not to anyone else's. The page is even set up so the browser itself blocks it from sending data elsewhere. Close the tab and nothing is left behind. ### Is it really free? Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid version of this tool.
